Lagos woman docked for beating, causing neighbour to lose pregnancy

A 34-year-old businesswoman residing in the Mafoluku area of Oshodi, Lagos, Olabisi Oyebolu, has been arraigned in court for allegedly beating up her neighbour, Mrs Bunmi Olunlade and causing her to lose pregnancy.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that Oyebolu committed the offences on July 26, 2023, at her residence.

He added that Oyebolu who was charged with conspiracy and assault beat up the pregnant woman alongside her siblings who are now on the run.

The prosecutor said that a fight had ensued between the defendant and the complainant, Mrs Bunmi Olunlade over cleaning of their compound.

Akeem alleged that the defendant and her siblings caused Olunlade to lose pregnancy through the beating.

Akeem said that the offences contravened Sections 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Feb. 22 for mention.
