The Federal Government would soon commence the prosecution of individuals and firms, who connive to defraud the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE- P.

The Director of the Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, Mr. Peter Papka made this known, yesterday in Makurdi the Benue State capital, at the orientation and employment training for Benue interns, organised by SURE-P in collaboration with Lapidot consults.

Represented by Mrs. Tolutope Falae from the Federal Ministry of Finance, Papka said: “It is true that some bad eggs on the sides of the interns and firms who are their employers, have attempted to defraud the scheme through unethical practices. Some interns have attempted to get paid without working while some firms and their representatives have attempted to connive with interns to derail the objectives of the scheme.

“While this government remains committed to the objectives of the scheme for the benefit of Nigerians, we would not hesitate to commence the prosecution of fraudulent interns and firms who would like to abuse government’s good intentions.”
