Irate Okada riders and the Lagos Taskforce officials clashed in Abule Egba area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Tuesday morning following the seizure of their bikes by the police.

There was pandemonium in the area as the taskforce officials impounded lots of motorcycles plying prohibited routes.

The okada riders regrouped and launched an attack on the taskforce. They blocked part of the expressway and burnt tyres right in the middle of the road.

Vehicles intending to access the road leading to Agege from Abule Egba could not gain access as the protesters blocked the road by setting tyres on fire.

It was gathered that the taskforce officials after impounding lots of bikes left the scene immediately to prevent the crisis from snowballing.

But that did not deter the protesters who took laws into their hands by stopping road users from going about their businesses. At the entrance of Ekero Road, lots of broken bottles were seen on the ground while the riders also burnt tyres on the road.

It took the intervention of police detachment from the Oke-Odo Police Station to restore normalcy. The police stormed the area and fired shots in the air to disperse the protesters and took back the road before vehicles could move.
