With preparations and readiness on ground, all hands are on deck to receive members, stakeholders, guests, and the public, as the Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP) holds her 49th Annual Conference.

The annual conference, holding from Sunday, March 24, 2024, to Wednesday, March 27, 2024, is the society’s flagship programme which has over the years, helped to shape policy direction, develop skilled manpower and promote entrepreneurs within the livestock sector.

The theme for the 49th conference is “Improving Animal Agriculture for Sustainable Economic Development in Nigeria” and will hold at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Auditorium, University of Ibadan.

Speaking with Professors F. O. Abeke (President NSAP) & Olufunke Ola-Davies( Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan) said all is set for the opening ceremony which is taking place at the faculty auditorium .

The Keynote speaker at the NSAP-UI 2024 conference is Otunba Adebayo Odunowo of Biacom Agro Nigeria Limited. Lead Speakers are, the Secretary to the State Government, Oyo State, Professor Olanike Adeyemo; and Professor Saidu O. Oseni of the Department of Animal Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State.

Special Guests of Honour are, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency. Mr. Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. NSAP is a society that aims to promote the study and practice of all aspects of animal production; provide forum for discussion of scientific and industrial policies, social and educational issues relevant to the development of animal production in Nigeria; engage in and support the publication of scientific and educational materials related to animal production; cooperate with organisations with similar objectives within and outside Nigeria.

It was inaugurated during the first symposium on Animal Production in the Tropics held in March 1973 at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Stakeholders involved in different aspects of Animal production from the universities, research institutes, government agencies, formed the core of its membership at inception.
