The National President of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comr. Qaudri Olaleye has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to save the country’s educational system from total collapse by resolving the current issue going on between the government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
He made this call today in an interview with CEOAFRICA, during which he appealed to the government to address this critical issue that bothers on Nigeria’s collective future as a nation.
He added that the future of the country depends on the younger generation.
Comr. Qaudri said it is high time our governments at all levels embraced the culture of respecting and adhering to agreements so as to save the future of Nigerian students.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that ASUU’s strike has been allowed to drag on for too long, and the consequences are huge,” the TUC President stated
According to him, he noted that any nation that abandons its youth’s developmental and educational system inadvertently abandons its tomorrow.
“We shall not fold our arms and allow the nation’s educational system to collapse,’’ he added.
He therefore calls on all stakeholders to ensure that everything is put in place in other to ensure that students return back to their various campuses, adding that it is now necessary for the government to move and decisively address the issues at stake.
