The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded a staggering feat of over 40,000 discharged patients of Covid-19 virus.

The NCDC also confirmed 221 new cases on Wednesday which was 31 cases short of the count for Tuesday, 25th August.

According to the breakdown, Plateau state topped the list of new cases with 60 cases, while the Federal Capital Territory followed with 33 new cases. Kaduna, Rivers and Lagos states had doubled figure: 26, 18 and 17 cases respectively as Kano and Bauchi recorded 1 new case each.

The Wednesday tally is the lowest since May, which had total number of confirmed cases below 10,000, of which less than 3,000 recoveries was recorded.

However, as at June 30, while the number of confirmed positive cases had more than doubled, the count of discharged patients had increased to about 10,000.

Consequently, for August 26, a total of 317 recoveries were recorded, increasing the country’s current number of discharged patients to 40,281. While three new deaths were recorded on Wednesday rounding up the fatality toll to 1,010.

However, out of about 380,000 samples already tested across the country, 53,021 have been confirmed positive, while 11,730 are still active cases.
