Tanzania’s fourth Prime Minister and former OAU Secretary General loses wife

The former Prime Minister of Tanzania and former Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Unity, Dr Salimn Ahmed Salim, has lost his wife Amne Salim in Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam.

Confirming the loss, Medical Director of Aga Khan Hospital, Dr Ahmed Jusabani on Tuesday, 20th of October, 2020, said; “It is true. She has died here in the hospital, but I can’t comment further. Kindly consult family members who will be in a better position to give more details”.

Mrs Salim is survived by her husband Dr. Salim and her three children; Maryam, Ali and Ahmed.

Dr Salim, her husband, has been a Tanzanian politician and diplomat since the 1960’s and has also served as the Minister of Defence and National Service, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Permanent Representative of Tanzania to the United Nations.
