Osun State Command announces arrival of IGP committee to investigate #EndSARS losses

The Osun State Police Command has informed the public of the arrival of the Panels of Inquiry set up by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, NPM, mni, to investigate the causes of violence and losses suffered by the police force in the state.

This was disclose in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Command, SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin and titled “The High-Powered Committee Set Up By The IGP arrives Osun State To assess the losses suffered by the Nigeria Police Force during the #Endsars protests” and was seen by CEOAFRICA.

According to the statement, the committee headed by CP Abutu Yaro, fdc upon arrival commenced work immediately beginning with the various scene where police facilities were destroyed.

The statement partly read, “The Osun State Police Command wishes to intimate the general public especially the good people of the state that, the Panels of Inquiry set up by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, NPM, mni, with a view to investigating the immediate and remote causes of the violence that engulfed some parts of the country in recent time which Osun State was not excluded have arrived the state on 13th November, 2020.

“It should be noted that, immediately the committee headed by the CP Abutu Yaro, fdc arrived the state, they commenced their work by visiting the various scenes of the incident where police facilities were destroyed such as Isale Osun area, Oja-Oba area, Oju-irin (Railway Police Station) old garage area within Osogbo and they visited the victims too.

“Furthermore, the committee visited Ile-Ife Area Command and Owena Ijesa under Ilesa Area Command among other areas visited.”

The committee is expected to capture all damages done to infrastructure, personnel in order to proffer suggestions on possible interventions towards reconstruction, re-equipping and requisite supports for the families of the deceased officers and the injured ones.

The commissioner of police Osun state, CP Undie Adie was quoted commending the committee for their selfish services and appreciating the citizens of the state for their cooperation and support during the trying period.

CP Adie further urged them to keep up their habit of providing the force with useful information which in turn helps the police maintain a safer state.
