Filling stations owners in Rivers State have been ordered to reduce fuel pump price by N5 from Monday, December 14, 2020.

The Rivers State Chairman, Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, Francis Dimkpa issued the directive in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

While addressing journalists, Dimpka urged petroleum dealers in the state to comply with the directive in tandem with the agreement reached between the Organised Labour and the federal government.

The Federal Government following a closed-door meeting with the organised labour agreed to slash the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol from N168 to N162.44 per litre to take effect from Monday, December 14, 2020.

Dimkpa stated, “PETROAN welcomes the reduction in price as a result of the agreement between the Federal Government and the Organised Labour and we are looking forward to its implementation from Monday,14 December, 2020.

“By this, we are encouraging all members of Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria to key into the government and labour agreement of reduction in price come 14th December, 2020 and effect the reduction as expected.”

The state PETROAN Chairman, however, demanded that ex-depot price of petroleum products be reduced also to align with the Federal Government and Organised Labour agreement.

“Our hope is that the implementation will start from the ex-depot price because we know that by the reduction in pump price to the extent of N5, the ex-depot price will also be reflected.

“So, if that is done, we have no reason not to reduce the pump price, hoping that the ex-depot price will be published before then.”
