117000 JOBS TO BE CREATED THROUGH SUGAR AND AUTOMOTIVE MASTER PLAN- FG.

The Nigeria Government is ready to Kick-Off the sugar and automotive master plan that would lead to creation of 117000 jobs in the country; this was disclosed by the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Samuel Ortom. Adding that, the revolutionaries of the automobile industry in the country will help in achieving a target of 300,000 units of assembled vehicles by 2018.

 

He said further, the Ministry has launched the National Enterprise Development Plan (NEDEP) in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Association of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Industrial Training Funds (ITF), and Bank of Industry (BOI) to   create five million jobs by 2015.

 

The Minister said there have been positive development in aviation, transport,water, works and power sector due to the awareness created by the Ministry, adding that The government has repositioned the Africa growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)and establishing a training  center at BOI and embassies to ease Foreign Direct Investment.

 

Dr. Ortom said the country has developed a Strategy for domestic, regional and International trade while Diaspora Export Programme, trans-national Border markets starting first with the Okerete in Saki-West Local government of Oyo State
