Chrisland University’s 2nd Inaugural Lecture to uplift professorial research on cloud computing, holds July 18

Having held an eventful maiden edition of her inaugural lecture last year with focus on the challenges confronting Nigeria’s system of government and governance, Chrisland University will yet shine again this year with her 2nd inaugural lecture.
Inaugural lectures are public academic ceremonies that avail professors with the opportunity to share their achievements in research, innovation, engagement and teaching activities before an audience of members of the University community and the general public. It is also an avenue to showcase the difference their research, innovation, engagement and teaching is making to society.
The 2nd inaugural lecture of the varsity will hold on Thursday, 18th July 2024 at the school auditorium by 11 am under the title, “Who are these that fly as clouds...? Scaling Computing Metaphor.” The chief host of the event, with focus on scaling computing metaphors, is the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs) Chinedum Peace Babalola
It will be delivered by Prof. Isaac Ayodeji Odun-Ayo, a Professor of Computer Science, at the prestigious Chrisland University, with specific interests in Cloud Computing, Data Analysis, virtualization, information security, network security, applied artificial intelligence, advanced machine learning, computer networks security etc.
The inaugural lecturer, Prof. Odun-Ayo earned a Diploma in Data Processing with Distinction; a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. He was the pioneer Team Leader of the Nigerian Air Force In-house Software Development Project. Notably, he led a team of Nigerian Air Force Officers to develop the Supply Management Information System for the Nigerian Air Force in 2003, the first ever software to be built in-house by the NAF. The Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna appointed him as the Pioneer Director, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), from 2008 to 2010.
 In recognition of his significant contribution to national productivity and development, in March 2009, President Musa Yar’adua awarded him the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award. Between 2010 and 2013, he was the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the National Defense College, Abuja, Nigeria. He held positions as the Director of Research and Development at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Abuja; and later became the Commander, 401 Aircraft Maintenance Depot, Logistics Command, Ikeja; the Chief of Aircraft Engineering, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force; and the Director of Production, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria. After 34 years of conscientious service in the Nigerian Air Force, he retired in 2016. Professor Odun-Ayo has amassed a wealth of teaching experience, beginning his academic career in 2010 as a Senior Faculty Member at the National Defence College, Abuja. He then served as a Fellow (Senior Lecturer) in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Lagos (2016–2019).
Prof. Odun-Ayo is a recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit Award, Nigeria for his contribution to computing. He is a member of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Computer Professionals of Nigeria (CPN), International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Member Information Science Institute (ISI). He is also on the Editorial Board Member of the Science Research Association (SCIREA) Journal of Computer.
He has the IBM Cloud Application Developer 2019 - Mastery Award with a proven expertise to build, run, deploy, and develop applications on a cloud development platform, using IBM Cloud. Through the badge earned, he demonstrated advanced proficiency on topics such as Cloud Computing, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, DevOps, REST Architecture, Watson APIs, Web Architecture, Cloud Security, Node.js, Express Framework, ECMAScript, and React. He also earned an IBM Artificial Intelligence Analyst - Explorer Award 2019 with requisite skills in AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), chatbots, and computer vision, using Watson Assistant, Discovery, Machine Learning, Watson Studio, Knowledge Studio, Visual Recognition, Tone Analyzer, and Natural Language Understanding.
He joined Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria as a Senior Lecturer in October 2016 to November 2021. He is the author of one book and more than 30 articles. His research interest includes, cloud computing, human resource management, e-governance and software engineering. His leadership extended beyond academics, as he actively participated in shaping the university's future by serving on the Covenant University Administrative Board. He diligently guided approximately thirty (30) undergraduates and five (5) postgraduate students during his time at Covenant University. 
Professor Odun-Ayo was at the World Congress on Engineering, Imperial College, London, between 4-6 July 2018, where he delivered three papers on cloud computing. By his academic accomplishments, Professor Odun-Ayo was selected as a participant at the Times Higher Education World University Rankings - THE's Academic Reputation Survey 2021.
He is presently a Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Computer Sciences, Chrisland University, Abeokuta since June 2022. His well-rounded experience culminated in his current role as Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, Chrisland University, overseeing computer science, software engineering, and cybersecurity programmes. He is also a Member of Screening Panel and Support Teams; as well as Member of Ceremonies and Honours Committee at Chrisland University. Within 6 months of his arrival at Chrisland University, he organized a grant seminar and led the Department of Computer Sciences to a successful accreditation of the software engineering, and cybersecurity programmes.
