The Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja will on Monday, August 12 receive the beaded crown, exactly a month after the installation of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as Olubadan.
The former governor Oyo State, is expected to be crowned by Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Ladoja had earlier rejected the beaded crown when other members of the Olubadan-in-Council were crowned by the late Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun.
He also dragged the Oyo State government and the Olubadan-in Council to court over the development.
This reportedly led to a rancour within the Olubadan-in-Council.
However recently, the former governor made a u-turn, announced on a radio station in Ibadan that he accepted to receive and wear beaded crown as part of the new requirements to ascend the coveted throne of Olubadan.
“I will receive the crown if that is what will hinder me from becoming the Olubadan of Ibadan land,” Ladoja said last Sunday.
He insisted that there was no rancour within members of the Olubadan-in-council, maintaining that the elevated Obas were all his friends.
A close associate of the Otun Olubadan has now confirmed that Ladoja would be crowned on Monday.
The source said that the former governor would be presented with a crown befitting his status as Otun Olubadan at the inaugural meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to be presided over by Oba Olakulehin.
“Yes. The meeting will start at 12.00 noon,” the source said.
