Court Ordered Closure of Al-Jazeera’s Mubashir Mish and Three Other Television Stations in Egypt

In Egypt, four television stations has been closed down after being found guilty of sympathising with members of the Muslim Brotherhood during the clashes that claimed many people’s lives.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the television stations include Ahrar 25, which belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood, and Egyptian arm of Al-Jazeera.

Sources told our correspondent that the closure was part of measures taken to deal with media houses found to be sympathetic to the deposed President Mohammed Morsi, who was overthrown few weeks ago. Stations, especially Al-Jazeera’s Mubashir Misr, has been criticized by many Egyptians who took to the streets demanding the resignation of the Islamist President, as too close to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The order for closure of these stations was given by an administrative court in Cairo and stations affected are Ahrar 25, Al-Jazeera’s Mubashir Misr, Al-Quds ans Al-Yarmuk.

Meanwhile, in another development, three foreign journalists working for Al-Jazeera’s English language channel were expelled because they did not possess correct press accreditation.

On Monday, Egypt expelled three foreign journalists working for Al-Jazeera's English language channel, saying they did not have correct press accreditation.

Wayne Hey, Adil Bradlow and Russ Finn were reportedly put on an Egypt plane headed for London, after being forced to leave their equipments behind.
