The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has admonished the All Progressives Congress to stop celebrating the acts of terrorism for political gains.

Wike, who spoke on Tuesday, was apparently making reference to APC’s insistence that the Federal Government was not doing enough to fight terrorism in the northern part of the country.

He also expressed the need for the opposition party to emulate opposition politicians in France who stood by their government after last week’s terrorists’ attack in the country.

The governorship candidate said in Port Harcourt during his visit to the campaign office of one of the governorship aspirants of the party, Mr. Ibinabo Michael-West, that issues related to terrorism and insecurity should not be politicized.

Describing the development as unfortunate and anti-people, Wike expressed the need for Nigerian leaders to put Nigeria first as a country rather than using terrorism to play politics.

“Nigerian opposition leaders should learn to put Nigeria first, rather than using terrorism to play politics. We should rally round the Federal Government led by President Jonathan to defeat terrorism.

“The opposition should consider the peace of Nigeria at all times and stop playing politics with terrorism,” the PDP governorship candidate insisted.

Wike, however, expressed gratitude to Michael-West for collapsing his campaign organization into the New Rivers 2015, a group fronting for the victory of the PDP governorship candidate in the forthcoming election.

He expressed optimism that the PDP would win the forthcoming general elections, maintaining that victory was necessary for the party in order to enhance the development of the state.

Reacting, Michael-West explained that the PDP remained the overriding interest of its members, especially with the conclusion of the governorship primary.

Michael-West assured that all party leaders would work in conjunction with the New Rivers Vision 2015 to lead PDP to victory during the poll.
