Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dissolved the 44 caretaker committee chairmen overseeing the affairs of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.
The announcement was made during a special meeting with the caretaker committee chairmen at the Government House in Kano.
This move comes just a week after the Kano State House of Assembly granted a two-month extension for the caretaker chairmen’s tenure.
Local Government elections are scheduled to take place on October 26, 2024.
Governor Yusuf instructed the caretaker chairmen to hand over leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs).
He clarified that the dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors.
In his address, Governor Yusuf thanked the outgoing caretaker chairmen for their service and contributions to the development of their LGAs during their tenure.
