Eket community in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria has recorded a substantial decrease in the price of cement.

According to survey by NAN, most cement stores in Eket and the surrounding community now sell a bag of cement between N1, 150 and N1, 500 contrary to N1,900 and N2,000 it used to be around March and April of this year.

Paulinus Akpan, a cement dealer in Eket, said it was the rainy season that caused the drastic price drop, stressing that the demand for the product has really reduced.

However Sammie Inyangs, also a cement trader along Eket-Oron road, commended the Dangote Cement Company for situating a depot in the area, highlighting that it had really helped in the price reduction.
