The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State is enmeshed in a fresh crisis over allegation of financial recklessness and highhandedness levelled against its chairman, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa.

The Director of Media and Strategy of the PDP in the state, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, in a statement on Sunday accused the party chairman of financial recklessness and highhandedness.

Odeyemi said that Olaoluwa did not carry members of the State Working Committee of the PDP along in making decisions.

He said, “The people of Osun are looking onto us to save them from the Pharaoh that reigns at the moment in the state. We have done a lot of work to make the PDP a viable platform for political office seekers, including the President.

“None of the members of State Working Committee and the members of Osun PDP has an idea of how Olaoluwa runs the party. He is reckless in handling its finances and this is affecting the morale of members and we consider this to be very dangerous ahead of next month’s elections.”

But the PDP chairman in the state, in a text message also accused Odeyemi of disloyalty and fraud.

Olaoluwa urged journalists to disregard information that did not emanate from his office.

The chairman warned Odeyemi against character assassination and unguarded statements, saying this would not augur well for the party which intended to do well in the elections.

Olaoluwa said, “The PDP remained one over the years and will not accept divisive comments from an individual with questionable character.

“While parading himself as the Osun State PDP Publicity Director, Odeyemi is romancing with four governorship candidates of different political parties including his former boss, former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of the Labour Party in Oyo State.

“Odeyemi was given a portfolio out of magnanimity and he is not a member of the PDP executive.”
