The Ngwo community came alive on December 28th, 2024 with a spirit of generosity and health empowerment as the Umuada Ngwo Association, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, in collaboration with Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited and the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AEFUTHA), held a remarkable medical outreach event. The initiative aimed to provide vital health services to the members of the community, marking a significant milestone in the association's commitment to social welfare. The outreach served as a precursor to the upcoming Umuada Day event slated for December 30, 2024.
The event was graced by prominent figures; including Evangelist Dr. Patience Ozokwo, the Brand Ambassador of Coatal Softgel by Geneith Pharmaceuticals. It also draws participation from various stakeholders; medical professionals, community leaders, and local residents. The outreach provided essential healthcare services, health education, consultation and screenings, significantly impacting the overall health and well-being of the community.
Evangelist Dr. Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, who serves as the Brand Ambassador of Coatal Softgel presence and support added to the significance of the event. Heartfelt appreciation was also conveyed to all the executives and members of the Association of Umuada Ngwo, the Chief Medical Director of AEFUTHA, Professor Robinson, and the dedicated medical team in attendance.
The medical outreach not only provided immediate healthcare benefits but also emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups and preventive measures. In an exclusive interview, Evangelist Dr. Patience Ozokwo, affectionately known as Mama G and the Brand Ambassador of Coatal Softgel, expressed immense pride in the success of the outreach. "Today's medical outreach marks the beginning of the main event on the 30th, the Umuada Day. I invited Geneith and they showed up in a big way. I am grateful for their support in my town. The doctors are excited about the supplies provided, and Coatal by Geneith is number one! Thank you for honoring me," she stated. Dr. Ozokwo highlighted that the event also included giveaways such as umbrellas and school bags for the community.
Dr. Ngozi Ezeani, the President of the Umuada Ngwo Association, emphasized the significance of the outreach, stating, "Today, we are providing free medical services to both young and old, courtesy of Geneith Pharmaceuticals. They administered drugs, conducted laboratory tests for high blood pressure, and checked blood sugar levels. We extend our appreciation to Dr. Robinson, the CMD of AEFUTHA, and all the doctors and nurses from Geneith for their invaluable contributions. We also thank Mama G and the Umuada Ngwo Association Executives for their efforts. On the 30th, we will celebrate our Umuada Ngwo Day, featuring an empowerment program and recognition for sisters who have excelled in community service, particularly those who have come from the diaspora."

Dr. (Mrs.) Nkiru Obodo, who resides in the United States but was born in Umuada Ngwo, underlined the outreach's core objective of community health: "This initiative focuses on screening and educating the community on self-care practices. We checked blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and provided medications, including vision screenings where many received glasses and eyedrops. It’s all about giving back to the community. The Umuada Ngwo Association is dedicated to ensuring the health of our people, and this effort will be ongoing, likely every two years. I appreciate all the members of the Umuada Ngwo Association, the medical team, Mama G for the medications provided, and of course Geneith Pharmaceutical Limited for their generous donations."
Professor Amaka Don, an American-based Political Scientist, expressed her support for the cause, stating, "I came to Ngwo today because of the Umuada activities—specifically, the medical mission aimed at giving back to the community and ensuring our community continues to grow. I’m particularly pleased that Geneith Pharmaceutical Limited has provided malaria drugs. On December 30, we will be launching Umuada International, which is why many of us from the diaspora have come together to support this initiative. Comrade Nnamdi Christianah Onyeka, a dedicated member of the Umuada Association, emphasized the outreach's focus on reaching those in need: "This program is all about medical outreach. We are the voice of the voiceless, reaching out to the disadvantaged, especially those who face financial challenges in accessing healthcare. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Robinson, the Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AEFUTHA), the Indigenous doctors, and all medical health officers involved. Comrade Ifeoma highlighted the communal spirit that inspired the outreach, saying, "We gathered here today out of love for our community, fueled by the affection shown to us by many, especially Mama G, who collaborated with Geneith Pharmaceutical Limited to provide free healthcare services and souvenirs. We are deeply grateful to her and the medical team from Ebonyi, who generously provided free eyeglasses to our people."
