Residents of Ungwan Ate in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State took to the streets to protest the relentless killings and kidnappings by bandits in their community.
In large numbers, the protesters blocked the entrance of the Ungwan Ate–Ungwan Mission road along the Kaduna-Kachia highway, demanding urgent intervention from the state government and security agencies to safeguard their lives and property.
According to the demonstrators, bandits continue to attack the area at will, facing little or no resistance from security forces.
They recounted a recent attack on Tuesday, February 11, which lasted for two hours and resulted in the abduction of one person.
Carrying placards with various messages, the protesters expressed their frustration and fear.
Some of the inscriptions read: “The Kaduna government says it has made peace with the bandits, but we are being killed every day in Kachia and uncountable souls are in the bush suffering for offenses they know nothing about.”
