
Popular Anambra native doctor, Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okoku, has been arraigned on five charges bordering on ritual practices, robbery conspiracy, and aiding internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys.
Nwangwu was arrested on Sunday, February 16, and his charges were officially presented at the Anambra State High Court on Tuesday, February 25, in a ruling delivered by Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu.
The case was brought against him by the Anambra State government, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The five charges against him include:
1. Engaging in money ritual practices.
2. Maintaining business ties with drug dealers.
3. Preparing charms for kidnappers and armed robbers within and outside the state.
4. Assisting internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) in their criminal activities.
5. Performing ritualistic charms for clients.
In addition, the Anambra State government has vowed to confiscate Nwangwu’s properties, including his hotel and cars.
The court has adjourned the case to a later date for further hearing.
