With 106 days left until "IFEADIGO 2025", the 44th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), scheduled for July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, Anambra, we honor the rich history and influential leaders of Anambra State.

Did you know that Nigeria's first president, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, hailed from Onitsha, Anambra State? Born on November 16, 1904, he played a pivotal role in Nigeria's struggle for independence and became a cornerstone of the nation’s governance post-independence. Dr. Azikiwe, affectionately known as "Zik," was more than just a political leader; he was a renowned educator, a passionate advocate for unity, and a significant voice in promoting Nigerian nationalism. His contributions to the country’s development and the advancement of Pan-Africanism continue to resonate throughout Nigeria and beyond.

In recognition of his legacy and impact, numerous institutions and landmarks bear his name, inspiring generations of leaders and citizens alike. As we move closer to "IFEADIGO 2025", themed "Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice," it’s vital to reflect on the foundational principles of leadership, education, and community service as exemplified by figures like Dr. Azikiwe.

Anambra, often referred to as the "Light of the Nation," stands as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and cultural pride. The term IFEADIGO translates to "light has come," reflecting the spirit of enlightenment and progress the conference aims to promote. As we anticipate this significant event, let us celebrate the legacy of our leaders and the potential for a brighter future together!
