From Juba, the capital city of South Sudan, news was gathered that Unity state lawmaker, Manas Magok Rundial has been appointed as the new speaker of the parliament. This is the last major position to be filled after President Salva Kiir fired his entire cabinet last month.

Sources disclosed that Rundial has been representing Unity State in the parliament since 2005 when South Sudan started forming its own government before independence in 2011. He also served as governor of Unity State under the Khartoum regime.

Meanwhile, two deputy speakers were appointed and they are Jasmine Samuel of Western Equatoria and Mark Nyipouch of Western Bahr el Ghazal.
