With 51 days remaining until the 44th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), we are proud to highlight the remarkable contributions of Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpaleke, a prominent Nigerian prelate and cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Born on March 1, 1963, Cardinal Okpaleke has served as the Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese since April 29, 2020. He was initially appointed Bishop of Ahiara in 2012 and consecrated in 2013; however, due to the insistence of the local clergy and laity for an Mbaise bishop, he transitioned to his current role in Ekwulobia, where he continues to inspire faith and community development.

On August 27, 2022, Cardinal Okpaleke was elevated to the rank of cardinal by Pope Francis, recognizing his unwavering commitment to the Church and his pastoral leadership. Over the span of twenty years since his ordination, he has held various significant positions, including university chaplain, parish priest, diocesan finance administrator, diocesan chancellor, and a secretary and member of various diocesan boards. His academic pursuits took him to Rome, where he studied canon law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.

Hailing from Amesi in Anambra State, Cardinal Okpaleke embodies the spirit of leadership and service that is crucial to the themes of IFEADIGO 2025. Scheduled for July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, Anambra, this year’s conference will center around “Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacists’ Practice in Nigeria.” The teachings and values promoted by Cardinal Okpaleke align with the focus on compassion and community care that underpin the pharmaceutical profession.
