The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has cautioned against the harassment of his supporters, insisting that good behaviour and peaceful conduct should not be mistaken for weakness.
Obi made the remarks amid political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, appealing to those targeting his supporters to embrace civility and respect the rights of Nigerians who want to express their political preferences.
He said people supporting his political movement should be allowed to participate in the democratic process without intimidation.
“For those harassing our supporters, innocent Nigerians who want food, humility and civility are not weaknesses. They are virtues. Nobody has the monopoly of rascality,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor further urged political actors to conduct themselves responsibly, warning that peaceful behaviour should not be interpreted as an inability to respond to provocation.
“Good behaviour is not weakness; it is a virtue. I am warning and pleading with everybody. Enough is enough,” he said.
Obi’s comments come as political parties and their supporters intensify activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with political exchanges and competition over public support expected to feature prominently in the coming months.
