The Federal Government Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved a National Healthcare Waste Management Policy for Nigeria.

The Minister of Information, Labaran maku addressing State House correspondents on the outcome of the weekly meeting, , said the approval of the policy followed a memorandum jointly presented to the council by the Federal Ministries of Health and Environment.

He purported that prior to this approval; Nigeria does not have a coordinated healthcare waste management system, especially in the area of segregation, collection, storage, treatment and disposal of waste.
