With just 37 days remaining until the ACPN National Conference tagged "IFEADIGO 2025," we take a look at one of the most iconic landmarks in Nigeria—the Niger Bridge, also known as the Onitsha Bridge. This vital bridge connects the southeastern and western regions of Nigeria across the Niger River, linking Onitsha in Anambra State to Asaba in Delta State.
Completed in 1965, the bridge features two lanes and a pedestrian walkway and often experiences heavy traffic congestion due to its critical role in regional transport and commerce, where informal traders are frequently seen. The construction of the Niger Bridge reflects a history laden with cultural and economic significance, particularly during precolonial and colonial eras, as well as its roles during the Nigerian Civil War.
Few bridges can claim the same historical and socioeconomic relevance. Millions of travelers traverse this landmark daily, making it a vital artery not only for those going between Asaba and Onitsha but also for the broader Eastern and Western Nigeria connection. The bridge, which stretches 4,606 feet in length and stands 74 feet high, embodies the spirit of national enterprise.
As we approach the "IFEADIGO 2025" conference, scheduled to take place from July 22 to 27, 2025, at the International Conference Center in Awka, we are reminded of the importance of connectivity—both physically and professionally. This year’s theme, “Technology Integration and Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacists’ Practice in Nigeria,” aims to address the evolving landscape of community pharmacy, highlighting advancements in technology that enhance patient care.
The conference will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and networking among healthcare professionals. We invite all stakeholders in the healthcare sector to join us for this transformative event that promises to shape the future of pharmacy in Nigeria and reinforce the bonds that unify our communities. Stay tuned for more updates as we count down to IFEADIGO 2025!
