With just 31 days remaining until the ACPN National Conference tagged "IFEADIGO 2025,' we draw attention to one of the natural wonders of our region—the Amaokpala Lake, also known as Iyi Ocha. Located in Amaokpala, a town within the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, this pristine lake is celebrated for its crystal-clear waters, which reveal the lakebed below. The name "Iyi" means water, while "Ocha" translates to neat or clean, reflecting the lake's remarkable purity, as it is known to resist any form of contamination.

Amaokpala Lake flows freely and empties into the well-known Odo River, with geographical coordinates of Latitude -6.066940 and Longitude -7.1064. This lake holds both socio-cultural and socio-economic significance for the local community. The deity presiding over the lake is cared for by a chief priest who must come from a royal lineage, illustrating the deep-rooted traditions connected to this natural resource. According to local lore, it is said that the first king of Amaokpala welcomed a stranger who brought the lake into existence.

The lake is teeming with fish, making fishing a vital activity for the Amaokpala people, while students from Federal Polytechnic Oko, located nearby, often visit for picnics and sightseeing. This vibrant locale has become a popular destination for both leisure and cultural engagement in the area.
