The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration & Control alerts that Nigerians should take precautions against the prevailing presence of mycotoxins, toxic substances in foods and feeds.

CEOAFRICA has got this hint from the warning statements of the Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii at a workshop organized in Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday by the agency for stakeholders in the South-West.

In this forum, organized by the agency in collaboration with the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, the Agency’s Director of Laboratory Services Mrs. Stella Denloye representing the DG of NAFDAC, Orhii, reveals the toxic substance could cause liver cancer.

He reiterated however that the need to create awareness was necessary in view of the dangers inherent in the consumption of the substance.
