PSN President, Pharm. Tanko Ibrahim, Graces FIP World Congress of Pharmacy

The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. Tanko Ibrahim Ayuba, joined global pharmacy leaders at the just-concluded 83rd FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from August 31 to September 3, 2025.

The annual congress, themed “Pharmacy Forward: Performance, Collaboration and Health Transformation,” brought together key stakeholders in the global health and pharmaceutical ecosystem to deliberate on the evolving roles of pharmacists in improving healthcare outcomes worldwide.

Speaking during one of the plenary sessions, Pharm. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and accountability in advancing pharmaceutical practice across Africa.

According to him, “For pharmacy to truly move forward, we must build stronger bridges between academia, industry, and community practice. Health transformation begins when performance meets purpose — when we deliver care that is people-centered and driven by evidence.”

He further highlighted Nigeria’s growing contributions to pharmacy practice and commended the efforts of pharmacists across the nation for their resilience and adaptability amid global health challenges.

Also present at the congress was the National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Pharm. Ambrose Igwekamma Ezeh; the immediate past Registrar of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Dr. N.A.E. Mohammed; the CEO of Business School Netherlands and President of the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, Pharm. (Prof.) Lere Baale; the National Publicity Secretary of PSN, Pharm. Lizette Njideka Ezenekwe; the National Secretary of ACPN, Pharm. (Mrs.) Omokhafe Ashore who joined other professionals in discussions geared toward strengthening regulatory frameworks and advancing global best practices in pharmacy.

The PSN president’s participation underscored Nigeria’s active role in shaping the future of global pharmacy, with renewed commitments to collaboration and continuous improvement across the profession.
