The much-anticipated 30th Anniversary Reunion of the College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) Class of 1994 officially kicked off on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with a vibrant and heart-warming cocktail event that set an exciting tone for the four-day celebration.

The opening ceremony, held at the luxurious Andover Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, brought together members of the “Semper Fidelis” Class from across Nigeria and the diaspora for an evening of reconnecting, reminiscence and renewed brotherhood.

The atmosphere at the hotel’s outdoor lounge was warm and electric as old classmates exchanged handshakes, hugs and laughter, many seeing one another again for the first time in decades. The evening’s soft lighting, smooth music and elegantly arranged cocktail tables created the perfect ambience for a relaxed homecoming. Guests were treated to a blend of classic and contemporary music, including nostalgic tunes that threw many back to their memorable days within the walls of CIC.

The event opened with a brief welcome remark from the President of the Alumni Association Class of ’94, Mr. Emenike Ukoha, who expressed delight at the strong turnout and the opportunity for former classmates to reunite in celebration of their shared history. He described the reunion as “a gathering of brothers bound by time, values, and the enduring spirit of CIC,” adding that the four-day programme would strengthen the alumni’s commitment to supporting education and community development.

Guests mingled freely as they enjoyed a selection of cocktails, champagne, finger foods and light entertainment curated to ease everyone into the reunion spirit. The hotel’s hospitality team kept glasses filled and trays circulating as spontaneous storytelling sessions erupted across the venue, with many alumni sharing memories of classroom pranks, chapel routines, sporting triumphs and the discipline that shaped their formative years.

The highlight of the evening came when the Class of ’94 observed a ceremonial toast led by Pharm. (Sir) Bankole Aminu Ezebuilo, Chairman of the CPC. He praised the resilience of his classmates and applauded their continuous contributions to society. “Thirty years is no small journey. We celebrate not just the time passed, but the lives we have touched, the successes we have built, and the hope we carry for the future," he said as he lifted his glass to a round of applause.

The cocktail also served as an informal networking platform, allowing participants to reconnect both personally and professionally. Many alumni used the opportunity to discuss ongoing projects, and philanthropy plans for CIC. The atmosphere remained lively late into the night, punctuated by hearty laughter, photo sessions, and the enthusiastic chanting of “Semper Fidelis!” — the class’s enduring motto.

As the reunion continues with activities at the CIC grounds, community initiatives, sports, cultural moments and the grand summit in the coming days, Day 1 has already set a remarkable foundation for what promises to be a memorable and impactful anniversary celebration.
