Profile of Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh, former PSN President

Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh is a distinguished academic pharmacist with a rich portfolio in pharmaceutical education and leadership. He was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2003 and subsequently served as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy from 2006 to 2010, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the future of pharmacy education and practice.

Professor Usifoh's scholarly contributions have garnered numerous awards, recognizing his significant impact in the field of pharmacy. His research and publications focus on various aspects of pharmaceutical sciences, contributing valuable insights to both national and international communities.

A member of several national and international pharmaceutical societies, Professor Usifoh has demonstrated his commitment to advancing the profession. He served as the Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) in Edo State and has held prominent positions such as the Editor-in-Chief of the PSN, showcasing his dedication to improving pharmacy standards and practices.

As the immediate past President of the PSN, he is particularly noted for taking the society to new heights, often referred to as “El Dorado” during his tenure. His visionary leadership fostered an environment of innovation and collaboration, which enhanced the recognition and influence of the pharmacy profession in Nigeria, making significant strides in pharmacy practice standards and public health initiatives.

As a Fellow of multiple pharmaceutical organizations, Professor Usifoh is recognized for his expertise and leadership within the profession. His efforts have not only advanced the practice of pharmacy but have also inspired many young pharmacists in Nigeria and beyond.

On a personal note, Professor Usifoh is happily married to Pharm. Professor (Mrs.) Stella Usifoh, and together they are proud parents of three children, one of whom has followed in their footsteps to become a pharmacist.

Professor Usifoh continues to be an influential figure in pharmacy education while remaining committed to enhancing the practice and professional development of pharmacists across the nation.
