Delta State government in collaboration with the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) and the private sector has concluded plans for large-scale cassava transformation.
CEOAFRICA news gathered that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Akinwunmi Adesina has already received the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) of 6,000 hectares of farmland from the government of Delta State for this purpose.
However, the land which is to be used for the High Quality Cassava Flour (HOCF) nucleus farm in Abraka, Delta State is also expected to support the efforts of the Federal Government aim at massive production of cassava as raw material to reduce Nigeria’s continuuous dependence on wheat importation.
Akinwunmi Adesina expressed gratitude to Delta state government for this noble gesture, stating that it is the first of its kind coming from any state in the federation, advising other states to follow suit.
