In a significant move to tackle youth unemployment and foster a digitally-driven economy, the Federal Government (FG) launched a two-day Youth Opportunity Summit 2025 in Oyo State Nigeria.

The summit, an initiative of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of Nigeria, championed by the Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Women, Youth Engagement and Impact, Hajiya Hauwa Liman in partnership with the Inspire for Impact Initiative.

Hosted at the prestigious International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan (UI), the event attracted various dignitaries from different parts of the country in collaboration to foster robust economic activity and cultivate a generation equipped for the future.

The choice of Oyo State, with the event taking place at the historic University of Ibadan complex, underscores the strategy to decentralize youth empowerment programs and reach a wide demographic of students and young professionals across the South-West region.

The summit focuses extensively on various themes: technology, finance, and entrepreneurship to promote entrepreneurship training, and networking opportunities which are important requirements for the evolving global economy in the 21st century.

Addressing participants at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, stressed the Federal Government’s commitment to providing platforms for young Nigerians to transit from job seekers to job creators in the country.

The Commissioner further encouraged attendees to focus on becoming entrepreneurs and to maintain seriousness with upgrading themselves education to reduce poverty. “If you are well-informed, you will be able to make logical decisions,” Honourable Adegoke stated.e

The Governor of Oyo Seyi Makinde who was in attendance stressed that economic prosperity would not come except we have entrepreneurs, except we have our people educated, and except we back it up with intensive production."

He assured the attendees assurance that Oyo State and by extension, Nigeria would give everyone the opportunities to unlock your potential.
