The National Chairman of the Clinical Pharmacists Association of Nigeria (CPAN), Dr. Maureen Nwafor, has been honoured with the Outstanding Leadership and Advocacy in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Patient-Centered Care Award at the 2025 Dove Healthcare Awards, held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The widely attended ceremony brought together key figures in Nigeria’s healthcare and governance sectors, further underscoring the weight of the honour. Dr. Nwafor’s recognition comes as a solid affirmation of her unwavering commitment to advancing clinical pharmacy practice and championing patient-centered care models across the country.

Since assuming office in early 2025, Dr. Nwafor has consistently emphasized collaboration as the pathway to strengthening clinical pharmacy. Recalling her earlier pledge to stakeholders, she remarked that CPAN remains focused on “building collaborative bridges with relevant stakeholders and institutions within and outside Nigeria to elevate patient care delivery.”

Her award was presented alongside recognitions for several other distinguished personalities, including the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), Pharm. Ibrahim Babashehu Ahmed, and the Executive Governors of Yobe, Osun, and Borno States, honoured for contributions to healthcare development within their regions.

In a statement released on Sunday, CPAN expressed pride in the achievement of its National Chairman. The National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Okeroghene Aghogho Timipre, described the award as a reflection of the strategic impact the current administration is making.

“We congratulate the National Chairman and wish her many more milestones as she continues to project CPAN on both the national and international stage,” he stated.

The honour is expected to further strengthen CPAN’s ongoing drive to integrate clinical pharmacists more fully into Nigeria’s healthcare system, ultimately improving patient outcomes and expanding the role of pharmacy professionals in clinical decision-making.
