The agricultural landscape in Oyo State is bracing for a transformative shift as the Oyo Mega Poultry Workshop 2026 prepares to host a two-day event starting March 24th. Under the powerful theme, " Sustaining the Future: Positioning Poultry Farmers for Generational Impact," the workshop aims to move beyond basic farming techniques to focus on long-term economic resilience and wealth creation.

Flagging off the training, the Acting Coordinating Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Adigun Olufemi O., said the training was designed to improve the livelihood of youths in Oyo through capacity building and empowerment. Mr Oluwatoyin Olayinka added that the initiative will be able to create more employment opportunities, train numerous farmers, and add significantly to the overall GDP of the nation. He added that, at the end of the day, it is expected that the training will help participants meet their immediate household socio-economic obligations.

The training comes at a critical time when efforts are being put in place to improve the quality of poultry farming and enhance the economic stability of the beneficiaries. In a bid to align with the Federal Government’s move to boost poultry production in the country, Oyo has resolved to boost production through its strategic local initiatives. This scheme is set to reposition poultry out-grower services in Nigeria by supporting farmers with the tools and knowledge needed for large-scale success. The aim of the scheme is to provide quality food for Nigerians through the provision of quality inputs for poultry farmers, generate employment, and support the Federal Government's drive for food security.

Further emphasizing the commitment to farmer success, Omidokun Oyekunle, Chairman of PAN Oyo, highlighted that this training would promote self-reliance for the development of the families of farmers, Oyo State, and the country at large. The leadership has urged all prospective participants to exploit what they describe as a rare opportunity to learn from the best in the industry. Attendees are encouraged to be attentive and participate fully throughout the training period, so as to become self-reliant and commercially viable.

The event, which kicks off at 10:00 AM prompt each day, will be held at Poultry Haven, located on Ajia Road, Elerumoke, off the New Ibadan-Ife Expressway in Egbeda, Ibadan. This year’s workshop features a heavyweight lineup of industry titans. Keynote speakers include Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, Group Managing Director of Amo Farms, and Mr. Onallo Akpan, the Director General of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN). Highlighting the sector's vital role, the national president of PAN stated that the poultry industry has been a major employer of labour and a great source of financial empowerment and livelihood for many families.

The workshop is supported by major sponsors including Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited, Amo Byng, Fidan, and Allet Feed Mills Limited.
