President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that ongoing efforts to address insecurity across the country are beginning to yield measurable progress.

In an Easter message he personally signed on Friday, the President said the season underscores themes of sacrifice, resilience, and hope, which he noted are particularly relevant as Nigeria navigates economic and security challenges.

“For us in Nigeria, the essence resonates with our current realities as we face a period marked by economic strain and security concerns, even as determined efforts are underway to address them,” Tinubu stated.

He stressed that peace remains a prerequisite for national development, noting that no country can thrive in an atmosphere of fear. The President reassured citizens in regions affected by violence that government interventions are gaining traction.

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality, while acknowledging the continued sacrifices of the Armed Forces and other security agencies. He said the government is increasing resource allocation and strengthening international partnerships to enhance operational capacity.

“While challenges persist, we are making the necessary investments and forging strategic alliances to deliver decisive outcomes against criminal elements,” he said.

The President’s remarks come shortly after his visit to Jos, where he commiserated with victims of a recent attack that claimed at least 28 lives. During the visit, Tinubu said security chiefs had provided assurances of progress, while efforts were also underway to mobilise international support.

He called on Nigerians to remain united and support lawful measures aimed at restoring peace, emphasizing that national cohesion is critical to overcoming current challenges.

“To those affected, we share in your grief and remain committed to ensuring such tragedies do not recur,” the President said, adding that the government would continue to provide support to victims and their families.

Tinubu also reiterated his administration’s broader pledge to deliver peace and prosperity, expressing confidence that ongoing efforts would help restore stability, particularly in troubled areas such as Jos.
