An old video showing President Bola Tinubu leading a protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resurfaced online, drawing renewed public attention amid ongoing political tensions.

In the footage, recorded during his time as an opposition figure, Tinubu is seen criticising INEC, accusing the electoral body of corruption, election rigging, and failing to adequately represent the interests of Nigerians.

The re-emergence of the clip coincides with a recent protest staged at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other political stakeholders. The demonstrators alleged that the commission is acting in a partisan manner.

Prominent political figures reported to have participated in the protest include Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Dino Melaye, and activist Aisha Yesufu, among others.

The demonstration, tagged the “Save Democracy” protest, featured participants dressed in branded “Operation Save Our Democracy” T-shirts and carrying placards with messages calling for reforms within INEC, including demands for the removal of its chairman, Joash Amupitan.

The protest follows INEC’s recent decision to withdraw recognition of a faction of the ADC led by David Mark, a move that has sparked criticism and intensified political reactions across the country.
