Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he will personally meet with former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to seek their support following his victory in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary.
Atiku made the statement on Wednesday night after emerging as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The former Vice President secured the ADC ticket after defeating Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen in the keenly contested primary election.
Official results released by the party showed that Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes to clinch the nomination, while Amaechi came second with 504,117 votes. Hayatu-Deen secured 177,120 votes.
Speaking shortly after his victory, Atiku emphasized the need for unity within the party and pledged to engage his co-contestants in the interest of strengthening the ADC ahead of the 2027 polls.
“I will personally visit Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen and appeal to them to support me,” he said.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the party’s leadership, stating that the ADC was entering the 2027 presidential race with experienced and credible figures capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
“We are bringing experience and credibility because most of us who are leading this party have been in government before,” he added.
