Unidentified armed men have abducted the sister of the immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twin sons in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when the victims were going to drop the children at school. The abducted woman was identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, while her sons were named Peter and Paul.

Mrs. John-Paul, 43, is said to be the younger sister of the former minister. She was reportedly taken alongside her 12-year-old twin boys by the assailants at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

As of the time of filing this report, their whereabouts remain unknown.

A media aide to Adelabu, Femi Awogboro, confirmed the incident, stating that it had been reported to the police.

In a statement, Awogboro said: “The family of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and leading gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, wishes to formally confirm the unfortunate kidnapping of his younger sister, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her twin sons, Peter and Paul, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026.”

He added that Mrs. John-Paul previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before retiring last year. She had since relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to join her husband, who resides in the United States.

Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
