The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Asimiyu Ajibola, has been hospitalised at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital following a suspected armed attack in Osogbo on Wednesday night.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, the police command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Ojelabi said the attack occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m. in the MDS area of Osogbo, where two armed men on a motorcycle reportedly opened fire on Ajibola in what is being treated as an attempted assassination.

The victim is currently receiving medical attention, while security operatives continue efforts to identify and apprehend the attackers.
