The Oyo State Government on Monday commenced the demolition of a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located in the Lakoun community along the Ayegun–Olojuoro Road in Ibadan.
The building was reportedly used as the operational base where Mrs. Olaide Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons were held captive before their rescue over the weekend.
Local media reports and videos shared on X on Monday showed the structure being pulled down by authorities following the rescue operation.
According to Oyo-based media platform Oyo Affairs, which shared footage of the exercise, the building served as the location where the victims were kept during their abduction.
The demolition was said to have followed a security assessment of the site conducted on Sunday by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, alongside other senior security officials.
Another online platform, *Oyo Matters*, also shared images and videos of the exercise, confirming that the property had been completely levelled as part of the government’s response to the incident.
Meanwhile, security sources confirmed that two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were killed during the rescue operation on Saturday, while four others were arrested and later paraded on Sunday at the State Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements, particularly involving fleeing members of the syndicate, as investigations continue.
