Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, used his performance at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday night to draw international attention to the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The “OBO” crooner wore a custom-made jacket featuring the names of the 39 abducted children and seven teachers, with the message “Bring Them Home” prominently displayed on the back. Throughout his performance of the hit song ‘Fall’, Davido highlighted the jacket, signaling his call for urgent action regarding the ongoing crisis.

This is not the first time Davido has advocated for the release of the abductees. He has previously urged authorities via social media to expedite efforts to secure their safe return, stressing that the current insecurity in the region must not be allowed to continue.

In related FIFA World Cup news, Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy is scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony in Mexico City alongside Colombian star Shakira. Burna Boy collaborated with Shakira on the official 2026 World Cup song, *Dia Dia*, which the duo is expected to perform. Additionally, Nigerian artist Rema will appear at the U.S. opening ceremony in Los Angeles alongside K-pop sensation Lisa and other international acts.

The involvement of these Nigerian artists underscores the growing global influence of the country’s music industry, while Davido’s advocacy highlights how entertainers are leveraging international platforms to spotlight pressing humanitarian issues.
