A vehicle was submerged in floodwaters following a heavy downpour that triggered severe flooding in the Agungi and Ajiran areas of Lekki.

Eyewitnesses and videos circulating on social media showed the car trapped in deep floodwaters, with the vehicle eventually disappearing beneath the surface. In one of the clips, the distraught owner of the car could be heard expressing frustration and disbelief over the incident.

According to the owner, he had specifically instructed his driver to avoid the flooded route. However, the driver allegedly ignored the warning and attempted to drive through the water at high speed, leading to the vehicle being overwhelmed by the flood.

The incident once again draws attention to the persistent drainage and flooding challenges in parts of Lekki, while also serving as a reminder of the dangers associated with driving through flooded roads during heavy rainfall.
