Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Monday arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of his ongoing corruption trial.

He was brought into the court premises around 9:30 a.m. under heavy security escort comprising officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, operatives of the Department of State Services, and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

El-Rufai is standing trial over allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct linked to his tenure as governor between 2015 and 2023. The ICPC alleges that public funds were released for projects that were either not executed or were improperly handled, leading to claims of mismanagement.

The former governor has repeatedly denied all allegations, maintaining that he committed no wrongdoing.

During Monday’s proceedings, the court is expected to continue hearing arguments and motions from both the prosecution and defence as the case progresses.

Recall that on April 14, 2026, Justice Rilwan Aikawa granted him bail in the sum of ₦200 million, with conditions requiring two sureties, including a serving or retired civil servant not below Grade Level 15 and a recognised traditional ruler.

Although his legal team later sought a review of the bail conditions, a Kaduna State High Court presided over by Justice Darius Khobo reportedly declined further bail applications, citing concerns that his influence could affect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
