President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerian medical professionals practising abroad to return home and deploy their expertise toward national development, assuring them that his administration is committed to creating an enabling environment where they can thrive.

The President made the appeal on Friday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while receiving members of the Nigerian Diaspora Medical Associations, led by the Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Reflecting on his own experience of studying and working in the United States before returning to Nigeria, Tinubu encouraged the health professionals to draw inspiration from his decision to come back and contribute to the country's growth.

"I've been through that journey. I'm home, and I can tell you, there's nowhere like home. I've experienced being in America. I've taken the best of America in my chosen profession, accountancy and finance.

"I can't forget the Standard Oil Building in Chicago and my first week there. But since I came back from Mobil to now, it has been a worthwhile challenge to commit myself to helping turn Nigeria around," the President said.

Tinubu acknowledged that Nigerians living overseas have gained invaluable experience while also facing the realities and challenges of life abroad, urging them to channel their acquired knowledge into building a stronger nation.

"So many of you have seen the hazards of the other side of the world. You've experienced the tribulations and challenges, and you've come back home to feel it and seal it," he added.

The President further urged the visiting medical practitioners to encourage their colleagues in the diaspora to return to Nigeria, stressing that his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on creating opportunities that will make the country more attractive for professionals.

"My friends who are still there, try to attract them home. The best way for me to demonstrate this commitment is to remain focused on my Renewed Hope Agenda, so that Nigerians can enjoy a better environment, improved education, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.

"Your children will see this country as their own, and we are working hard to build a future that belongs to them. Your coming to help is immeasurable," he said.

Reaffirming his administration's commitment to improving the quality of life for Nigerians, Tinubu vowed to intensify efforts to eradicate poverty and expand prosperity across the country.

"Poverty is not acceptable. We won't accept it. We will fight it. We will bring prosperity. We will bring care to our people," the President declared.

The meeting underscored the Federal Government's commitment to strengthening engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora and leveraging their expertise to boost critical sectors, particularly healthcare, as the country continues to grapple with the migration of skilled medical professionals.
