Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that no one can defeat him in a free and fair election in Nigeria if he ever decides to seek public office.

The award-winning singer, however, said he has no immediate plans to venture into politics, citing what he described as the lack of transparency in Nigeria's electoral system.

Davido made the remarks during a recent livestream with streamer Cater Efe, where he was asked whether he would consider contesting for the governorship of a state.

Responding in Pidgin English, the singer said:

"Nigeria wey dem dey write result? I no get time for all those ones. Because I no be all those ones wey you go cheat me, I go go sleep for house. I will do something to you if you cheat me."

He added that he would rather concentrate on his music career until Nigeria's electoral process becomes more credible.

"Let me just focus on my music until there is transparency, then I can go ahead and contest for elective positions. Nobody can beat me in any election, never! In a free and fair election, I can win the presidential election in Nigeria."

Davido further alleged that election results are manipulated in the country, saying this discourages credible individuals from participating in politics.

The singer also revealed that he is closely monitoring the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, expressing hope that the process will be transparent.

"But because of the system, there is no transparency, they write results. I am waiting to see what they will do in the upcoming Osun gubernatorial election. We are watching," he said.
