Nigerians have urged Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to broaden his political advocacy by speaking out on national issues and taking his concerns about President Bola Tinubu's administration beyond the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

The calls followed Davido's recent warning that he would seek the intervention of United States President Donald Trump if the August 15 governorship election in Osun State is manipulated.

The singer's remarks have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians questioning why he appears more outspoken when political matters concern his family or Osun State, while remaining relatively silent on issues affecting millions of Nigerians across the country.

Davido had declared that he would involve Trump if anything goes wrong during the governorship election, a contest in which his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election.

Reacting to the statement, several users on X urged the award-winning singer to extend the same level of concern to broader national challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and what critics describe as poor governance.

They argued that, as one of Nigeria's most influential entertainers with a massive youth following, Davido should consistently use his platform to amplify issues affecting ordinary Nigerians rather than speaking out only when matters directly impact his family.
