Nigeria’s Super Eagles will battle Russia in an international friendly on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

The encounter comes just one week after Nigeria’s second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Guinea-Bissau, scheduled for September 29 in Bissau.

Eric Chelle’s men will open their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign on September 25 when they host Madagascar’s Barea.

The friendly will provide the Super Eagles with another opportunity to test their squad ahead of their upcoming international engagements.

Nigeria and Russia last met in a friendly at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on June 6, 2025, with both sides playing out a 1-1 draw.

Russia took the lead in the first half after Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi scored an own goal, but Nigeria fought back after the break, with Tolu Arokodare scoring the equaliser.

The Super Eagles are currently ranked 26th in the world, while Russia occupy 35th position in the FIFA rankings.
