The media office of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, listing what it described as major failures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement signed by Idris Zekeri Jnr., spokesman for Obi’s media office, on Sunday, the team faulted the government’s economic policies and their impact on Nigerians.

It identified the rising cost of living as one of its major concerns, blaming the removal of the petrol subsidy and other reforms for worsening economic hardship across the country.

According to the statement, the reforms have contributed to higher transportation costs and rising prices of food and other essential commodities, while the depreciation of the naira has further compounded the situation.

The team said the weaker currency had made imported goods, medicines, machinery and industrial inputs more expensive, increasing operating costs for businesses and ultimately pushing up prices for consumers.

It also accused the administration of falling short in addressing insecurity, maintaining transparency and public trust, and delivering on its promises to Nigerians.
