(Sir) Bankole Aminu Ezebuilo, FPSN, National Chairman of the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), as he marks another year of life, professional excellence and dedicated service to humanity.
The birthday celebration has provided an opportunity for pharmaceutical leaders, corporate executives, regulatory stakeholders, professional colleagues, mentees, friends and family members to honour a distinguished pharmacist whose career reflects a blend of industrial expertise, entrepreneurial vision, professional leadership and commitment to the advancement of healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Widely recognised for his contributions to industrial pharmacy and pharmaceutical enterprise development, Sir Ezebuilo has consistently demonstrated a commitment to quality, innovation and the promotion of high professional standards. As a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN), his professional journey underscores the critical role pharmacists play in strengthening the nation’s healthcare system and improving access to safe, effective and quality medicines.
As Founder, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kayhelt Pharma Ltd, alongside his involvement with Promedix Ltd and Caretec Ltd, Ezebuilo has continued to contribute to the pharmaceutical supply chain through the provision of essential medicines, surgical products and healthcare consumables. His entrepreneurial pursuits reflect a determination to build sustainable pharmaceutical businesses that respond to the needs of healthcare providers and patients while creating opportunities for professional growth and employment.
At the heart of his business philosophy is an unwavering emphasis on quality assurance, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. His practical knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), validation processes and regulatory affairs has informed his approach to pharmaceutical operations, with a strong focus on maintaining standards that support product quality, safety and reliability.
Beyond commercial success, his leadership approachplaces considerable value on people, innovation and institutional development. Colleagues describe him as a hands-on and solutions-driven leader who encourages teamwork, accountability and the exchange of ideas. Through this approach, he has sought to foster an environment where employees are empowered to take initiative, overcome challenges and contribute meaningfully to organisational growth.
His professional journey, spanning pharmaceutical manufacturing, hospital pharmacy and pharmaceutical marketing, has provided him with a broad understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and the responsibilities that come with the practice of pharmacy.
Ezebuilo began his career as an Assistant Production Pharmacist at Afrab Chem Pharmaceutical in Isolo, Lagos, where he acquired practical experience in production supervision and the formulation of multivitamins, antibiotics and paracetamol syrups and drops. The experience laid an important foundation for his understanding of pharmaceutical production processes and the technical demands of delivering quality healthcare products.
He subsequently expanded his clinical experience as an Intern Pharmacist at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where he participated in patient counselling, unit-dose dispensing and pharmacovigilance. His professional development continued at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Calabar, where he gained further experience in medication monitoring, pharmacovigilance and supporting prescribers in managing patients receiving multiple medications.
His career later took him into pharmaceutical marketing as a Medical Representative for Novartis Ophthalmics through Oculus Pharmacare. In that role, he organised clinical presentations across healthcare institutions, developed professional relationships and supported commercial operations across Northern Nigeria.
These experiences across production, clinical practice and marketing helped shape his multifaceted understanding of the pharmaceutical profession, equipping him with the perspective to connect technical expertise with business strategy, professional collaboration and patient-centred healthcare advocacy.
His professional accomplishments are further strengthened by a solid academic background. Following his secondary education at the College of Immaculate Conception (C.I.C), Enugu, he obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Jos.
During his university years, he participated in student leadership through the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) and the Students’ Union Government (SUG), while also engaging in humanitarian service through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. These experiences helped nurture the leadership, service and interpersonal values that have remained relevant throughout his career.
In his pursuit of broader management and leadership capabilities, Ezebuilo obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Conflict Management and Peace Studies from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). He also completed the Owner Manager Programme in Business Administration and Management at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, and pursued executive MBA studies through Strathmore Business School.
His continuing investment in professional and executive development reflects an appreciation of the need for pharmaceutical leaders to combine technical knowledge with strategic thinking, effective management and the ability to build partnerships across different sectors.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Sir Ezebuilo’s leadership within the pharmaceutical profession remains a defining feature of his public service. As National Chairman of NAIP, he occupies a strategic position in advancing the interests of industrial pharmacists and promoting discussions around local pharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory compliance, technological innovation and the sustainability of Nigeria’s healthcare system.
His leadership comes at a time when the development of domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity, adherence to quality standards and the strengthening of healthcare supply chains remain important considerations for the nation. Through professional engagement and industry collaboration, industrial pharmacists have a significant role to play in addressing these challenges, supporting local production and contributing to a more resilient healthcare system.
Stakeholders celebrating the NAIP chairman have highlighted the importance of professional leadership that encourages ethical practice, continuous learning and the development of younger pharmacists. His emphasis on mentorship, institutional growth and collaborative engagement reflects the need to prepare emerging professionals to assume greater responsibilities in an increasingly demanding pharmaceutical environment.
For many within the profession, his birthday is therefore not only a celebration of personal achievement but also an opportunity to recognise the value of experience, professional service and the determination to build institutions capable of sustaining excellence beyond individual careers.
At the centre of his personal life is his family, whose support has remained an important source of strength throughout his professional journey. His wife, Engr. Uzoamaka Ezebuilo, who serves as Director of Finance and Administration at Kayhelt Pharma, and their children continue to provide the family foundation from which he draws inspiration, encouragement and balance.
Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of goodwill on his birthday, Sir Ezebuilo said he was deeply humbled by the overwhelming love, prayers and felicitations received from friends, professional colleagues, healthcare stakeholders and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond.
He disclosed that messages of goodwill had begun arriving three days before his birthday, followed by a steady stream of telephone calls, text messages and prayers from people celebrating his life and professional contributions.
Describing the gestures as a reminder of divine grace and the enduring importance of human relationships, he expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who had taken time to celebrate with him.
He also offered prayers for Nigeria, expressing hope for a more prosperous nation and calling for continued progress, improved welfare and stronger institutions across the healthcare sector. He emphasised the importance of creating an environment in which healthcare professionals can work effectively, contribute to national development and save more lives.
Reaffirming the principle that has guided his approach to work and professional responsibility, Ezebuilo stated: “Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well.”
The declaration captures the philosophy behind a career built around technical competence, enterprise development, professional engagement and the pursuit of quality. It also reinforces the importance of diligence, integrity and accountability in an industry where the quality of products and services has direct implications for human health and wellbeing.
As tributes continue to celebrate his life and accomplishments, the birthday of Pharm. (Sir) Bankole Aminu Ezebuilo offers an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of dedicated professionals to the growth of Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industry and the advancement of public health.

For a leader whose career has brought together industrial expertise, business ambition, professional service and family values, the celebration represents more than the addition of another year.
